Mahatma Gandhi University Online Theses Digital Library website (http://mgutheses.org) provides Open Access to all the doctoral dissertations accepted by the university for awarding PhD from 1983 to the present.

Lunched in November 2008 it is still the only one from the 400 universities of India which has hosted such an offical online archive of PhD theses. inspired by it UGC Indian has started in Deceber 2009 a similar archive to pool such resources at INFLIBNET, Ahmedabad and UGC has also requested all Indian universites to follow this line. MGU Univeristy has become the first sigantory with UGC - INFLIBNET to contribute theses for the national pool of e-theses managed by UGC _ INFLIBNET, India

In the International Open Access Week 2010 MGU niversity has also formally decided to make its research results Open.

It is Unicode compliant and the content of the archive which is in English, Malayalam, Hindi and Sanskrit can be searched using local scripts.

Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) Online Theses Digital Library has been selected as one of the very best of the web resources for education and research by INTUTE, a European consortium of universities funded by Government of UK’s Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC), and the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). It is the first such recognition coming to any Indian University.
