MAURICIO DELFIN, is an anthropologist, new media producer and researcher in cultural development. Founder and Director of Realidad Visual (2001-2010), a cultural association concerned with the advancement of media art and the promotion of inclusive cultural policies in Peru. As a social researcher he has conducted studies on cultural policies and human development, mental health, youth and political violence, children and ICTs, social ecology and global health. Director and producer of various documentaries on issues like mental illness (Loco, 2001), political violence (Noqanchis, 2006) and global health (Zona Cruda, 2009). He currently serves as director general of Culturaperu.org, a program aimed at using ICTs to further civic engagement in the definition and evaluation of cultural policies in Peru. Research and Development Strategist for La Factura, a company that specializes in the development of new media for civic participation. Research Fellow for the Trauma and Global Health Program at McGill University. He is currently pursuing a Masters in Media, Culture and Communication at New York University (NYU), focusing on the study of technologies, cultural networks and policies for social transformation.
