Deputy Vice-Chancellor(VP) Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia from 2003 to 2013. In this role I developed and implemented the QUT policy mandate for QUT research outputs, and QUT ePrints commenced 2004. In 2004 I advocated the adoption of the lead institution role (by QUT) for the introduction of the Australian version of Creative Commons licenses, which occurred.

At end of 2013, I retired from the role and, (as Emeritus Professor of the University) commenced as adjunct Prof in the Faculty of Law at QUT.

In both capacities I have engaged in many speaking and advocacy roles for OA in Australia and internationally.
