Leading, researching, developing, implementing BRISSKit and integrated open source biomedical research software solutions across a range of public health, environmental health and multi-disciplinary research challenges. Use cases include the 100k Genomes Project with University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust and Genomics England; NIHR funded Leicester Cardiovascular, Respiratory and Leicester-Loughborough Lifestyle Biomedical Research Units; Leicester Cancer Research Biobank; environmental health research involving aerosols with the Leicester Earth Observation Science group; National Centre for Sports and Exercise Medicine at Loughborough and a key collaboration with the D2K Data to Knowledge research group in the School of Community Medicine at the University of Bristol for the ALSPAC longitudinal birth cohort studies and the DataShield statistical analysis tool. Chair of Medilink East Midlands Digital Health Special Interest Group.

Managing research data including multi disciplinary, environmental heatlh and sensitive health research data both as a researcher and at the strategic and institutional support level at Leicester and having worked with Jisc, Digital Curation Centre, Wellcome Trust including the HEFCE UK Research Data Service (UKRDS) Feasibility Study, the Jisc funded HALOGEN multi disciplinary research database in support of Wellcome Trust funded Roots of the British research and a range of national and international use cases.

Publishing and Peer Review of Research Data online and via Data Journals. I led the Jisc funded PREPARDE project, co-founded the international Data Publication mailing list, Co-chair the international Research Data Alliance RDA-WDS Publishing Data Group and I'm Editor-in-Chief of Open Health Data Journal.

Astronomical Survey Science, Informatics & Dynamical Interactions in Star Forming Regions including near-IR spectroscopic and multi wavelength studies, the XMM-Newton Survey Science Centre, International Virtual Observatory Alliance and Gamma Ray Bursts. I worked in particular on the XID ground-based identification program of the XMM X-ray Serendipitous Survey, led at Leicester on behalf of the European Space Agency community of astronomers. I was the UK representative on the Internal Science Team and managed the UK participation in the European Virtual Observatory Data Centre Alliance, an EC funded FP6 project which enabled European and other data centres to publish their archives to the Virtual Observatory. I was part of the science team for the UK AstroGrid Virtual Observatory project, whose innovate and ground breaking research data infrastructure has been implemented and adapted worldwide.
