Kirsten Leonard is the Executive Director of the Private Academic Library Network of Indiana (PALNI), a consortium of 24 academic libraries in Indianapolis, Indiana, sharing systems, collections, staff, and services. PALNI is focused on using its collaborative, innovative, and strategic power to make higher education more affordable and successful for students. Kirsten champions deep collaboration between libraries, consortia, and projects. Kirsten has served on the ICOLC coordinating committee, the Academic Libraries of Indiana board, and the OCLC Global Council. She is currently serving on the executive committee of Partnership for Shared Book Collections. Prior to joining PALNI, Kirsten was at Indiana University Kokomo as the Assistant Director of Institutional Research and Electronic Resources/Documents Librarian. She has also held librarian positions at Ball State University and Kettering University. She has conducted research on library web pages and deep collaboration, published book chapters on electronic resource management and ILS RFPs, and was an author of the Indiana White Paper on the Future of Cataloging. She is a graduate of the Harvard Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians and is a recurring keynote speaker on deep collaboration to consortia and groups of academic libraries.
