Tony Tin is the Head, Electronic Resources at Athabasca University (AU) Library, where he oversees the library's digital preservation, repository development, and electronic publishing, mobile library, the metadata harvesting service, and other digitization initiatives. Tony leads the library digitization unit, contributing to major projects funded by provincial and federal agencies. His responsibilities also include co-ordinating the library's large scale digitization project for the Lois Hole Campus Alberta Digital Library. He has served on provincial, national and consortium committees (LHCADL, Synergies, COPPUL) and provides technical leadership for digitization initiatives. Tony has organized a number of mobile learning projects to promote and make the library's digital collections and learning content more widely accessible and to support distant learners using mobile phones to access library resources and materials. His Mobile ESL project has received an honorable mention for Excellence and Innovation in Use of Learning Technology from the Canadian Network for Innovation in Education (2008). The International E-Learning Association has awarded its 2011 E-Learning Award to his Mobile Learning Projects. In 2002, he was honored as recipient of the AU Sue and Derrick Rowlandson Memorial award for service excellence. He has published articles and book chapters and presented at conferences on topics such as library technology, digital libraries, and mobile learning.
