I am a Senior Lecturer in Science Communication at Manchester Metropolitan University, where my research involves using different media to re-connect science and society. My current research involves:

1. The use of theatre to improve effective communication 2. The relationship between science and poetry 3. The role of the facilitator vs. that of the expert

As well as being an active researcher, I am also an innovative and engaging lecturer, teaching topics ranging from Applied Physics to Public Engagement across the entire University, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I have a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice, and am also a fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

My expertise in Science Communication means that I am also extremely experienced in developing and delivering effective Outreach and Public Engagement activities, specialising in working with audiences that are from a traditionally non-scientific background.
