Azerbaijan

  • Link for more details, if available: To convince academia, research and library communities in Azerbaijan to practice open access (open access journals and open access repositories) Khazar University staff translated the Berlin Declaration from English into Azeri to help academic institutions, research funding agencies and libraries in the country to more clearly understand the advantages of open access to scientific research. Presentation and discussion of the Berlin Declaration will be held at the Khazar University Library and Information Center on October 25 - October 27.

  • Link for more details, if available: BRAC University Ayesha Abed library is planning to celebrate Open Access (OA) Week with several activities including a workshop on OA, Open Source and Institutional Repositories for students and faculty of BRACU as well as library professionals from different institutes. To further promote the BRACU repository, an award is being offered to the department with the most full text deposits. The aim of these activities is to encourage inclusion of full text research output and theses as well as build upon digital library initiatives.

Eminent speakers will be invited to address the educators and to create awareness about the importance of Open Access (OA) to educational content. The aim is to help participants understand why it is important for educational content like research papers, books and other published materials to be accessible; how OA knowledge modules help to improve the quality of learning; how accessible, locally produced e-knowledge contents, free of charge, help to provide education even in remote areas of country.
